Engaging an audience on social media

More than 3 billion people use social media, making it a huge opportunity for your brand to grow and connect.

Through this form of communication, you break down a lot of barriers that you would have if you were using the traditional outbound marketing.

And if you do it right, you can easily find potential customers and allow your business to grow.

But how can we engage our audience and let our work be shown to the right group of people?

Sure, it’s easy to post a photo online and write a caption about it, but there is so much more that you could be doing to increase your audience and inform readers about your business in an attention-grabbing way.

1- Showing that you are more than a logo

Behind every business, there is a team. A lot of businesses don’t show their team and what they are doing for the business, resulting in a cold atmosphere that can disinterest people sometimes.

You want to show that there are real people, just like the readers, making the business possible. Create a “meet our team” series on your page, telling the reader who they are, what they do, and what they like.

Your team members might include humor or fun stories in their paragraph, they might even form a connection with the reader; thus creating a warm environment.

2- Hashtags

Hashtags create a way for new interested people to find your posts. But at the same time, you don’t want to fill the caption with hashtags, you want to smartly pick your own unique hashtag or relevant ones that match your post.

The hashtags that you include in your captions should be related to your post.

You can even create a series with hashtags, such as #MusicMonday where you recommend the right music for a certain situation.

3- Stories

Instead of just posting about your product or service, you should also show what it’s like in your office or what your team is up to for that day.

For example, if you’re using Instagram, you can post stories of your office, what you’re working on, or even connect with your followers through Q&A and suggestions.

Creating excitement amongst your followers for an upcoming product or event is also recommended. There are many tools on Instagram that allow you to do so, such as the countdown, GIFs, stamps, icons, and music features.

4- Graphics and colors

Graphic designs or animations are more attention-grabbing than a plain photo. Especially if it is creative and colorful.

There are many sites online that allow you to download such designs, but it is more convenient if you hire your own designer to create the content to your liking and to convey the message that you want it to.

5- Sharing and caring

There is a big chance that your audience reviewed your product or service on their account, so you need to show that you care. Whether it’s good or bad, you want to make sure that your customers feel like their opinion and experience matters.

You can share their post on your page, comment on their post, or ask them to talk about their product.
